Hit By Turning Commercial Truck – $199,000
Our client was in her fiancé’s Honda Civic traveling southbound on East St. and Vermont Ave. in Anaheim, CA when the negligent truck driver made an unsafe left turn and collided with our client with such great force that our client’s vehicle spun and collided with a third vehicle on the road. The vehicle was a total loss. As a result of the accident, our client sustained injuries to her abdomen, chest, middle and lower back pain, and experienced headaches, and nausea. She was also diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, which was later resolved.
Her treatment consisted of being seen by the MD, chiropractic care, MRIs, neurology, and pain management. Due to her right breast pain, she had an ultrasound of the breast which showed cyst in the right and left breast. The pain management doctor recommended our client to repeat mammograms and a further evaluation. Her total medical bills were $90,214.03.
The initial offer from the at fault commercial insurance was $90,000, which client did not want to accept. After about 5 rounds, we were able to settle the case at $199,000. We also got an additional MedPay reimbursement of $2,500.
Ultimately, the client is extremely pleased with this outcome, because she told me that she was honestly not expecting anything — she just wanted to make sure she was not stuck with a medical bill. Her pain and symptoms have also resolved.
